In 2009-2010, Voto Latino is working on three main initiatives toward this goal:
The ON Series: Conversations, Questions & Answers On Topics Impacting Americans. Americans elected the first Black president, so do we now live in a post-racial America? Can Congress really help create a Green Economy? Voto Latino will travel from East to West Coast, to get celebrities, politicians, and business leaders take on these issues affecting YOU! Join the discussion and be heard. More Info>>
Immigration Reform: Voto Latino believes a healthy American democracy requires treating people living here humanely, without regard to a persons legal status. Increasingly, we’ve heard hateful speech during immigration debates, which has created a climate in which all Latinos are prejudicially targeted. We want to make everyone is aware of the increase in hate crimes and hate speech against Latinos, and we need your help. For more information on how you can help build cross cultural awareness and change immigration debate, visit:
“Be Counted, Represent!” Census initiative: Latinos have been historically under-counted by the Census and Voto Latino wants to help ensure that the 2010 Census results in a more accurate picture of the Latino community and America at large. Voto Latino is asking young Latinos to encourage their communities to complete the Census. Voto Latino will give-away a number of Flip Cameras so you can upload you or your family’s pledge to be counted! Pledge to be counted. More Info>>
