No census form is ever perfect, and the only way the U.S. Census bureau can make it better is with our help. For this reason, around 450,000 homes might also receive different, or additional, Census questionnaires.
There are two types. The first is the American Community Survey (ACS). The ACS is a longer form questionnaire with more in-depth questions. When filled out completely, the ACS helps us obtain a very detailed portrait of American society. It asks questions like level of education and income within the home, market behavior, and other stuff. If you got one of these, you’re lucky, because you can really help people get to know our community.

The second is the Alternative Census (ACF) Form. The ACF is similar to the standard 10-question form but asks the same 10 questions about name, gender, ethnicity, race and type of housing in a different way to TEST questions for the 2020 census so that it is even more fair and accurate than the 2010 Census is.
It is important to note that just like the standard census form, these two forms are sent out to homes based on random selection and are JUST AS SAFE as the standard Census form. You will also be counted JUST AS ACCURATELY by the alternative form as by the standard form.
So get counting! The differences between the ACS and the ACF don’t matter nearly as much as you do!
