Be Counted Spotlight: Gaby from Central Valley California!

Hello, my name is Gabriela and I’m 17.

I live in a small town in the Central Valley of California, between San Francisco and Los Angeles. I really wanted to do something for my community. Personally, I am a HUGE Demi Lovato fan, and I follow her on Twitter. I saw that she tweeted about Voto Latino and how she was working on the 2010 Census.

I was super excited, and I found out about Voto Latino on Twitter, so I decided to follow and email them. I started thinking about how much Latinos need to take action. Ever since then I’ve become very interested.

For the past few weeks, I’ve taken the time to read over all the information on the website, and took action at my church. I’ve given announcements and gave a PowerPoint presentation about the 2010 Census.  I then asked my church to let me use the laptops so that I could hold little sessions where people could pledge online.  So far everything has been going as planned.

I’m so thankful that Voto Latino let me be a part of the crew.  I thank everyone at VL who took the time to let me be a part of something important!
