The news that the White House had brought back David Plouffe, Obama’s former campaign manager, and the one person largely credited for getting Obama the presidency, begs the question  what was he going to do to help Obama regain political traction. One thing’s for sure; with or without David, Democrats can’t use the tactics of 2008 to reach out to Latino voters in 2010.

Immigration Reform Will Be Difficult but Obama Must Deal with It

The Latino community will be waiting Wednesday night when Obama addresses a joint session of Congress, above all because economic recovery and immigration reform continue to be unkept promises.

Latinos and the Political Earthquake in Massachusetts

There was that horrible earthquake that devastated Haiti. Last night, Massachusetts and the United States experienced a political earthquake that could be as in many ways as profound with the election of Republican Scott Brown over Democrat Martha Coakley to the U.S. Senate. And today is the first anniversary of the inauguration of President Barack Obama, which means that the Massachusetts debacle will be magnified by media assessments of the President’s first year.
